Olivier Taboureau has a background in Biochemisty and after obtaining his Ph.D in 2001, on bioinformatics and data mining in France, he moved as a postoc to industry (Novozymes and Novo Nordisk in Denmark) studying antimicrobial peptides and coagulation factors using QSAR and molecular modeling approaches.

In 2005, he joins the center for biological sequences analysis at the Technical University of Denmark and he built his group on computational chemical biology. He became professor at the university of Paris Diderot in 2012 (now Université Paris Cité) and took the co-responsibility of the pharmacological profiling group.

With his expertise in bioinformatics and chemoinformatics, he is contributing to the development of computational approaches to decipher the impact of small molecules at the molecular level on human health and also on human perception. He started to work on olfaction in 2014 through a collaboration with the center for taste and Feeding behavior (CSGA) in France. Through this collaboration, he recently applied artificial intelligence methods on human perception in the aim to decode the relationship between smell, olfactory receptors and small molecules which he will present in this talk.
